I was so thrilled when Treetopia asked me to be a part of their Pride celebration with so many other talented bloggers. Each week one of us will be sharing our own personal stories along with a uniquely decorated Treetopia rainbow wreath.
I haven’t always been as comfortable in my skin as I am now. It was challenging growing up as the gay, weird, artistic kid. It took many tears and many years before I fully realized and embraced that the most important thing to do is take pride in who I am and just be my unique self. The LGBTQ community with its colorful characters has helped me get to the place I am now and grow some thick alligator skin. My wreath entitled “Alligators in Love” is a representation of that journey and fully showcases my quirky style.
Let’s be honest, it doesn’t get much weirder than two alligators tonguing amongst an explosion of “fireworks”. Love is love. In order to showcase this fabulous wreath from Treetopia, I positioned the alligator lovers at the top and decided to play up the existing colors.
They were constructed out of felt and adhered to foam core for stability. A clothespin attached to the backside of the gators holds them securely in the wreath.
I made the “fireworks” out of rainbow colored popsicle sticks.
A few touches of bling take them to the max.
