Candy Corn Topiary

Let’s be honest. Candy corn is nasty tasting, but so adorable to look at it! I filled this jar up about a month ago and have only ate about three of them. Anyways, their good looks inspired me to make these candy corn topiaries. This craft is perfect if you are in need of some last minute Halloween decor. A forest of these candy corn topiaries would make a wonderful centerpiece. Here’s what you’ll need […]

Medusa Head

I’ve always loved Medusa. Although, I’m not really a fan of snakes. She’s definitely a wonderful character to have around during the Halloween season. A few years back, I designed an entire Medusa installation complete with stone figures. Medusa’s snakes were created from pool noodles! This Medusa was much easier to construct. I picked up this female wig head from my local craft store. First, I adhered green tissue paper scraps to the entire wig […]

Monster Silhouettes

These Monster Silhouettes are sure to give my neighbors a fright. This easy project is an inexpensive way to add some Halloween curb appeal to your home. Use a white colored pencil to draw out monsters or any other Halloween characters on black poster board. Get creative! I love making monsters because there are no guidelines. Just make sure your creature fits within your window frame. Use scissors to cut out your creation and an […]

Gilded Insect Wall Plaques

A few years back, I edited my Halloween decoration collection. I sold and donated a lot of what I call generic Halloween decor. Don’t get me wrong, I love those items, but I wanted to elevate my collection. Since then I’ve made and try to buy unique Halloween items. Something that will set my house apart from the rest. These Gilded Insect Wall Plaques are the latest addition to my collection. They didn’t break the […]

Dollar Store Foam Pumpkin Topiary

I’m a huge Halloween fanatic. It’s one of my favorite holidays to craft and decorate for. The other day I was scrolling through Instagram and saw the cutest mini foam pumpkin that Brittany Young from Certified Celebrator had picked up from the dollar store and Brittany-fied. She inspired me to transform a few pumpkins of my own and create this pumpkin topiary. Here’s a before picture of the foam pumpkins I picked up from Dollar […]

Taco Party

Well, the taco party finally happened and was a huge success. Festive. Fabulous. Fun. I was super pleased with the overall look of the night. The Potted Felt Cactus Placeholders were a big hit amongst the guests. The Technicolor Cacti Centerpiece was my personal favorite decor item. Everything really came together beautifully. My good friend Gary made all of the food and let me tell you it was delicious! This guacamole was so good. The […]

Technicolor Cacti

The taco party is tomorrow and I needed a centerpiece! Utilizing various odds and ends in my craft closest, I came up with these beauties. These technicolor cacti are going to be the talk of the table. I initially, was going to wrap them each in a solid color yarn. Then, my current muse suggested that I “Go big or go home.” I couldn’t be happier I listened. They are going to tie all the […]

Cactus Piñata/ Taco Party Updates

If you follow @slumberingalligator on Instagram, you know I’ve been creating a cactus piñata for my upcoming taco party. I put the entire process in our story and promised to share the finished result today. Well… Here it is! I love how it turned out! Creating your own piñata is definitely a labor of love. However, I think the final result and cost is worth it. This piñata cost me $2 to make! The cardboard was […]

Cactus Garland

Ok, so I’ve finally set a date for the taco party! It will be at the end of this month. I know I’ve prolonged this a while and hope you’ve been enjoying the projects as they come along. There’s a few more decor projects still on my list, but I can cross cactus garland off as of now. I love the way it turned out! So cute and so easy to make! Create a cactus […]
