I love making new eggs for my Easter tree. This year, I decided that I wanted to go a little untraditional and use black and white paints for my eggs.

I think they look great with my Fluorescent Mason Twine Wrapped and Sparkly Decoupaged Easter Eggs. Variety is the spice of life!

I achieved the wonderful marbleized effect using Martha Stewart Marbling Medium and Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paints in Bettle Black and Wedding Cake. I’ve been wanting to use this marbling medium again ever since I created my Tomato Cage Marbleized Side Table. Target had these great wooden eggs (similar to these) with twine hangers in their craft section for $1.50 a piece. The only other supplies needed for this project were a few plastic cups and spoons.

First, I mixed my paints with the marbling medium following the instructions on the bottle. Be sure to wait the 10 minutes!

Then, I began spooning my colors on. I found it was best to do the bottom of my egg first, then the sides and finally the top. The marbling medium is so easy to work with! There are no mistakes with this project. Just have fun!

Once the egg is fully covered, hang to dry. This project is certainly messy. Be sure you are protecting your surfaces! I love how the drip puddle looks here. While creating, I wondered what would happen if I just rolled an egg in the puddle.
