I picked up this wood snowflake plaque from Targets Dollar Spot. There were various designs to choose from.

My friends over at Plaid recently send me a bunch of beautiful Apple Barrel matte acrylic paints. I used White, Bright Blue and Bimini Blue for this project.

First, I painted Apple Barrel White into the indented lines on the snowflake.

Then, I painted a segment White. I painted the segment directly across from it White also.

I repeated this step with the other colors.

I love this shade of blue.

So festive!

I painted the back and sides in Bright Blue.

To give it a little more pizzaz, I added some clear chunky glitter. Use spray adhesive or Mod Podge to secure glitter.

Lastly, I added various lengths of blue and white glittered ribbon to the back. I also added a twine loop hanger. Using my heavy duty staple gun, I attached the ribbon with 1/4 inch staples. You could you industrial strength adhesive as well.

I just love how the ribbon blows in the wind. Visit my Instagram account (@slumberingalligator) for a chance to WIN this snowflake door hanger and a $20 Starbucks gift card. Happy Holidays!

  1. That is such a cute idea! I think it’s pretty! Very clever! I know, for my little family, a snowflake or two would be welcomed in the part of Florida!
