Happy November! It’s the holiday season and time to start thinking about gift giving. I love giving and receiving handmade gifts. These sparkly holiday candles with DIY gift tags are perfect for spreading some holiday cheer. I initially saw this candle idea on cathiefilian.com and wanted to give it a go myself. I can’t wait to gift these candles to my friends.
Disclosure: Some supplies have been provided by Plaid, and I have received compensation for this post. Project ideas and opinions are my own.
For the candle portion of this project you’ll need MOD PODGE Sparkle, prayer candles (I got mine from the dollar store), holiday themed paper, a foam brush, wax paper and a cutting tool. This was my first time using MOD PODGE Sparkle. Of course, I love it! The Sparkle makes these candles even more festive.
While the candle dries, get creative and make some DIY gift tags. I bought these adorable wood circle gift tags at my local craft store. I used FolkArt Matte Acrylic Paint in Apple Red, Holly Leaf and Winter White to decorate mine.

Thank you. Merry Christmas!
love them! and the tags!
Thank you!
Hi there! After seeing these on the IG and asking about using napkins/tissue paper I gave these a try using something I printed on regular office paper with the laser printer – The first try didn’t take kindly to having the paper modpodged back and front – second try I just did the back and then continued on giving it a nice hearty layer on the front once wrapped and applying a second coat when it was dry. It came out perfectly and I am next going to try using vellum paper which I’ll print with vintage Christmas graphics! Excellent project and they make me think of the ones from 60s that had a sort of pebbly ice like coating on them!
