The weather here has been very rainy lately. Since, I wasn’t able to plant flowers in these once boring terra cotta pots last week, I painted them instead.

Maybe the rain was a blessing in disguise because these pots were definitely in need of a makeover! Thankfully my friends over at Plaid had provided me with their new FolkArt Coastal paint line a few weeks back. These texture paints were perfect for this project. I used three colors- Largo BluePoseidon, and Sea Salt.

There’s not much of a tutorial here. For all of the pots, I simply brushed on a base coat. The paints adhered to the terra cotta wonderfully.

Then, I stippled on a second layer of the Folkart Coastal paint to really bring out the texture.

I wanted each pot to be different. I used painters tape to mark out my designs. I love the contrast of the Sea Salt against the Poseidon paint.

I used FolkArt Brushed Metal Pearl Gold acrylic paint (Thanks, Plaid) to add fun accents to my pots.

For this one, I brushed stripes along the rim.

I really love how they turned out!

Isn’t the texture great?

These paints really took these pots from drab to fab!

Hopefully, this post has you feeling inspired to makeover a few pots of your own. Happy painting!

  1. Love your pots! The colours are fab! I have to ask about that screen used as a backdrop. Is it metal and did you make it?

  2. Beautiful!!!
