I wanted a new doormat to welcome guests during autumn. I love a DIY doormat. One of the very first projects I created on this blog was a Personalized Doormat. They’re easy to decorate and a wonderful way to personalize your entryway.

I picked up this natural tan mat from my local hardware store. You can also give a worn out existing mat a facelift using this technique.

First, I spray painted it gold.

After the gold paint dried, I laid down a leaf placemat onto the doormat to act as a stencil. I found it at a party store, but I’ve seen similar placemats/decorations at the dollar store that would work well too. Its intricate cutouts made it perfect for this project.

Lastly, I spray painted over the stencil and mat using red paint I had leftover from my Halloween blob project. Be sure to pull up the stencil while the paint is still drying.

And, there you have it! A stellar way to dress up any entryway.

  2. You were right! It is an easy project! And you could customize it to your preference in holiday colors! How about silver instead of gold and then blue instead of red? Oh wow!! I love it!!

  3. So adorable! Guests would really feel welcome there!🍁🍁🍁
