Happy September. Fall is fast approaching. I’ve decided to embrace the changing of the season by crafting up this “Welcome Home” sign using FolkArt brand stencils and some of my favorite fall colored FolkArt acrylic paints. I just love how it turned out. With my new sign surrounded by a few strategically placed accessories, I’m ready for hay rides, candy apples and pumpkin spiced lattes!

Disclosure: Some supplies have been provided by Plaid, and I have received compensation for this post. Project idea and opinions are my own.

Plaid Crafts sells a variety of surfaces online. I chose a pallet plaque for this project and painted it in Forest Moss. I love these pallets for sign making. Be sure to check out my Marble Suncatcher.

Next, I dry brushed on Clover.

Then, I dry brushed on Prairie Sage. At this point, I was really digging the look of my sign. These paint colors set a beautiful base for the addition of my stenciled elements.

I love these stencil packs by FolkArt. I have a few of them in my craft arsenal. The Seasonal Holidays pack was perfect for this project. I used the leaf stencil this go round, but was tempted to add the pumpkin one too!

I chose FolkArt acrylic paints in Glazed CarrotsAutumn LeavesButtercup and Turner’s Yellow for my leaves.

Real Brown was used for the stems and stenciled letters. A set of stenciling brushes made stenciling a breeze.

Using my stenciling brush, I stippled the leaves to give them a little more pizzaz.

Feels like fall to me!

After the leaves dried, I added “Welcome Home” to my sign using various parts of the stencil from the Welcome home pack.

Once the saying was on my sign, I felt it needed a little more. So, I added a few acorns from the leaf stencil and painted the tops in Turner’s Yellow for a little more detail.

Finally, I haphazardly dry brushed on a border in Turner’s Yellow to complete my sign.

I hope you enjoyed this project. For more Plaid Crafts fall DIY’s check out my Autumn Leaves Candle Holder and Leaf Bowl.
